Technical information

• DX Steel wire rope 6x12 + 7 TWK, galvanised consists of 6 galvanised strands of 12 steel wires and 1 rope core.
• The 6 strands are crossed right around 1 rope core, bringing the total number of rope cores used to 7
• The cable is very flexible with plenty of elongation and is supplied on reels of 50 and 100 metres

Application advice

• Steel cables with many rope cores are less suitable for outdoor applications
• The rope easily absorbs moisture, which can lead to faster corrosion
• This does not benefit the life span of the cable
• Safety comes first when using steel wire ropes
• The place and manner in which the steel wire rope is used are important aspects that must be taken into account
• For a safe application (Safe Working Load), the maximum Minimum Breaking Load (MBL) should be divided by the safety factor of 5.

Alternative

Do you need an outdoor steel wire rope? A good alternative is the 7x19 AISI 316 stainless steel wire rope without rope cores. This relatively flexible cable is extremely well protected against corrosion.
