3M Cubitron II Flap Disc 967A is ideally suited for low to medium pressure machining on flat surfaces and edges such as in paint preparation and stainless steel applications where the final finish is important.

Use the 3M Cubitron II Flap Disc 967A for higher cutting speeds and a flexible flap construction that allows you to grind and blend in one go. Our flap discs feature 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology that offers exceptionally high cutting speeds with less pressure. This abrasive grain is pre-formed into triangular abrasive points that cut through metal like a knife, instead of grooving or ploughing like traditional abrasives. These tips constantly sharpen themselves as small pieces break off, cutting through material extremely quickly. As a result, operators are less likely to tire when doing difficult tasks such as weld dressing, rust removal, edge grinding, blending and deburring. The heat-activated Grinding Aid on the discs makes this an excellent product for any type of metal. This grinding aid keeps the disc cooler on stainless steels and heat-sensitive metals such as nickel alloys or titanium. Moreover, it reduces discolouration and oxidation of the metal, as well as the risk of heat-related stress cracking. A uniquely designed backing of heavy polycotton (Y-weight) ensures controlled, even wear without premature dulling or glazing. As a result, more workpieces can be handled with one disc. Flap discs are three-dimensional grinding discs with overlapping layers of coated, fibreglass-reinforced abrasive flaps that fan out from a central node. As the overlapping layers of lamellas wear away, new abrasive minerals are continually exposed for a fast and consistent cut, while the damping material of the lamellas ensures a smooth finish. Under normal conditions, our flap discs generate a finish one level finer than the finish of a fibre disc of the same coarse.
