• OK Autrod 5183 was developed to achieve the highest possible strength in the welded condition when welding alloy AA 5083 and similar high magnesium alloys.
• The more common OK Autrod/Tigrod 5356 does not achieve the tensile strength requirements with AA 5083 in the welded condition.
• The alloy is mainly used in marine and structural applications where high strength, high impact values and exposure to corrosive elements are important.
• The alloy is not recommended in high-temperature applications due to its susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking.
• Not heat-treatable.
